Review of A Spirit of the Sun (2006)
Japan is split by massive earthquakes, killing half the population and sending many survivors out across the world as refugees. The US and China each assist in the reconstruction of one half of the country, making a ruined Japan the equivalent of Cold War Germany.
Disaster SF. Two-part miniseries. Clichéd, but a good effort to proceed beyond apocalypticism.
