Review of “Bokkō (A Battle of Wits; Mo gong, Chinese) Memo: As an Animated Film” (1991)

Text

Miyazaki Hayao (writer).

Read in Starting Point.

A proposal to adapt Sakemi Kenichi’s novel Bokkō (“Mohist Attack”) for TV.

Ignorance about military technology and military history will not be tolerated.

The novel was eventually adapted as a 1992 comic and a 2006 Hong Kong film. It is hard to imagine how it would have turned out if Ghibli had actually made it.
