Review of Chainsaw (2007)

A modern working-class couple, Frank and Ava Gardner, together with rodeo star Lewis Donovan, unwittingly mirror one aspect of the lives of Frank Sinatra, the movie star Ava Gardner, and bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín.
The climax is weak, dropping all credibility, and there are some minor graphical weaknesses, but there are moments of brilliant writing along the way. The fake tutorial video about chainsaws segueing to the story of a bull named Chainsaw brings in both an ecocritical undercurrent and a lovely thematic short circuit, which are both maintained quite well.
