Review of Chobits (2002)

Moving picture, 10 hours

Personal computers come in the form of androids with sockets in their “ears” who are always nice, understanding and obliging. Hideki, a rustic just recently introduced to this miracle, is thrilled to find a malfunctioning computer which becomes his own. The girl has no memories and needs to learn about the world, and so does Hideki. It gradually unfolds that all the people he befriends have had some tragic experience with computers and the fact that more and more people choose these passive, agreeable artificial people over biologicals.

Light and cute answer to cyberpunk. Frequently slow and silly with a number of filler episodes, but the latter-half theme is worthwhile.
