Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

Moving picture, 79 minutes

The talk and smooth symbolism of (evolutionary and Amazonian) dead ends and “failure” is very amusing. There is no horror. It’s as if somebody took Lovecraft’s Deep Ones out of “The Shadow over Innsmouth” (1936) and deliberately ironed out everything except the flopping silliness and laughable desire for human women.
