“Der Fuehrer's Face” (1942) IMDb

Commentary

Walt Disney lent his studio's artistry to the North American war effort after Pearl Harbor. The most historically interesting results were non-fiction, but some of the fiction is bizarre enough, like this Donald Duck short. I first saw it in a memorable high school history class. The inconsistent shell sizes still bother me more than the important digressions from realism.

Thinking he's gruesomely crippled, Donald Duck very nearly commits suicide.

That poor narrator. Prefigures much “subversive” work by other studios.
