Review of El-Hazard: The Magnificent World (1995)
A bland hero boy, a distinctly normal girl, an evil classmate and their teacher are transported from modern Japan to a realm of hypertechnology and high magic, about to be taken over by a nation of insect soldiers. The transition has given all four Japanese some kind of superpower each, and it is not long until they find themselves in the company of royalty and goddesses in short skirts, fighting for one side or the other.
Kitsch bishōjo fantasy. It seems that most of the work went into mismatched clothing. Absolutely ridiculous, particularly the young lesbian character whose sole raison d’être is fawning over other cute girls.
