Review of Eraserhead (1977)

Moving picture, 89 minutes

David Lynch (writer-director).

Something is born. The hospital is not sure if it’s a baby.

Industrial surrealism. One of the most famous midnight movies and Lynch’s first feature. Studious black and white with a grating soundtrack that never lets up. Moments of excellent black Freudian comedy and some stuff that does permit interpretation, but it’s mostly a nightmare skillfully caught on film.
