Review of First Peoples (2015)

Moving picture, 4.5 hours

Seen in 2018.

Seen on SVT, which scrambled the episode order and randomly dubbed the narration of the episode on Europe into Swedish.

Early humans, including Neanderthals, Denisovans and pioneers around the world, as investigated by archaeologists, anthropologists and genetic lab techs.

Slow and overly bombastic. Nobody smiles in the many dramatized reconstructions because the American producers implicitly conceive of the Palaeolithic as grim, dark and awesome. Despite this foolishness the scientific content seems pretty good. The talking heads represent a fairly wide range of experts from around the world.
