Review of Funny Games (1997)

Moving picture, 108 minutes

Michael Haneke (writer-director).

A clean, respectable, white family is attacked by thrillseekers.

This film is the most obvious manifestation of Haneke’s wish to “rape the viewer into independence”. Made all the more relevant by the following decade’s wave of torture porn, but I doubt whether it’s actually weaned anybody off the stuff.
