Heavy Metal (1981Moving picture, 86 minutes)

A fun exercise in kitsch and eclecticism. Jimmy T. Murakami directed the opening (“Soft Landing”) with John Bruno. The real magazine, and the varied geniuses behind it, could hardly have been jammed together into a very good movie.

Seen in 2013.

Less representative, very dumb, and mostly poorly animated. The music is just terrible. Still, epic science fiction animation is rarely all bad.
