Review of “Hedgehog’s Home” (2017)

Moving picture, 10 minutes

Seen in 2018.

A fox gets curious about the home of a respected middle-class hedgehog who is his dinner date.

Felted puppet animation from a poem by Branko Ćopić. The bizarre fox den, portraying even predatory wild animals as a hoarding petty bourgeoisie, recalls The Wind in the Willows (1908). The titular hedgehog’s home is not as bad, but the damage is done. This trap is largely avoided in the even more beautiful “Hedgehog in the Fog” (1975).
