Review of Knife in the Water (1962)

Moving picture, 94 minutes

Seen in 2015.

As expected, infidelity, sexual jealousy, violence and the threat of violence are all prominent. I am glad Polanski did not rely more heavily on these staples of the “domestic drama” genre, but the film is only interesting in between. The major interest lies in the bold and technically skilled depiction of hobbyist sailing, with appropriate omissions for tempo.
