Review of “Legend of Lemnear” (1989)

Moving picture, 45 minutes

Evil spontaneously attempts to destroy Good, burning down the heroes' village, of course. Good wins. The whole thing is unambiguously foretold and the costumes are heinously impractical.

Orthodox epic fantasy action with lots of nudity and some gore. Urushihara schlock. Good animation, some nice 80’s musical vignettes. The formula is remarkably strict, leaving little room for stuff like personality, friendship or love. It’s almost all prophecy and direct revenge process, in various stages of epic power. The collapsing stairway is adorable kitsch. Original title: Kyokuguro no Tsubasa: Barukisasu, literally “Extremely Black Wings: Valkisas”.
