Lumière et Compagnie (1995) IMDb

Categorization

Compilation celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Lumière brothers' first film. A number of directors each contributed with a film shot using a Lumière cinématographe, one 17-metre reel (52 seconds) per take for no more than three takes, no synchronized sound; most use only shot. One contributor paints onto the film, as did the brothers themselves (Danse serpentine), and a few utilize “simple” in-camera editing.

Commentary

Forcing people to be spontaneous didn’t seem to work.
