Review of Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God (2012)

Moving picture, 106 minutes

Seen in 2013.

The most fascinating aspect is the Servants of the Paraclete, Gerald Fitzgerald’s island retreat in New Mexico, which did see the problem and reacted to it in a humanitarian manner, partly for fear of scandal. The medieval hierarchy just didn’t care. It’s a conflux of all the worst in dual-process cognition, groupthink, authoritarianism and religious faith.
