Reviews of Lady and the Tramp (1955) and related work

Lady and the Tramp (1955Moving picture, 76 minutes) – previously

Better with the original voices; I did not like the Swedish dub. I especially appreciate the attempt, however flawed, to portray a city of ethnic diversity as a good thing, and giving up on the glamorization of poverty as a lifestyle choice.

One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961Moving picture, 79 minutes)

Seen in 2019.

A study in predictability. Cruella’s extreme simplicity as a figure of evil sucks the life out of the film. It’s visual style is flat to match, extending the use of xerography to distraction.
