Review of Orphans of the Storm (1921)
Griffith’s usual browbeating, bourgeois melodrama with Lillian Gish looking ridiculous, but the scenes of the revolution in a seemingly medieval France are enchanting. The conclusion in the garden is good fodder for ecocriticism.
