Review of Otaku (1994)

Moving picture, 168 minutes

A broad range of Japanese fanatics, from Tokyo Gagaga (street protesters screaming about the risks of conformity in the global capital of conformity) to more typical introverts obsessing about miniatures, and the industries that serve them.

Conventional. I doubt Gagaga are actually considered geeks, but the material still feels relevant, and very orientalizing. Good dark humour: One introvert describes how he lost his virginity in disappointment; sex was work.
