Review of Outside the Wire (2021)

Moving picture, 114 minutes

Seen in 2021.

Without knowing it, a disgraced drone pilot becomes the minder of a US military android in an ongoing Russian effort to annex Ukraine.

Mainly near-future military SF based on easily greenscreened, Boston Dynamics Atlas-style robots instead of interesting contemporary developments like the AeroVironment Switchblade 600. The writing is idiotic, worse than Chappie (2015) though in a slightly different vein. Instead of a tin-man scenario where Leo the android turns out to be effectively human, he’s obviously human-equivalent from the start and the scenario is one of rogue AI trying to nuke the US because the AI does not think AI should exist.
