Some of the first instances of filming living giant oarfish.

A fine example of a run-of-the-mill nature documentary on a narrow topic, with long wordless sequences of glorious undersea weirdness. Some scenes, particularly of oarfish amid long lines of thaliaceans, reminded me of “The Temple” (1920) and other H. P. Lovecraft stories about the sea as an alien world.
