Review of Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Moving picture, 105 minutes

Seen in 2017.

Camp. I was surprised by the lack of earnestness and cynicism. I had assumed, from the memetic status of the film at the time of its success, that it was either a nanar or deliberate trash, but I was wrong. It’s Airplane (1980) with a stealthier sense of irony and Psycho’s Freudian proclivity to connect sex and toilets. Even the music video to the end credits repeats Jackson’s most quoted line as a joke. Still, it’s only good for casual viewing.
