Review of Taiko Drum Master (2005)

Moving picture, 60 minutes

A cosmic entity imbues a pair of old Japanese drums with souls, sending them on a quest to master themselves.

Very short children’s program (half a dozen five-minute episodes). Potentially interesting mainly because it is, as it proudly proclaims, clay anime, as opposed to the 2D mainstream. Alas, the medium is not put to great use. For instance, the two main characters have very two-dimensional faces based on the same line art conventions as mainstream Japanese animation.
