Review of “The Fast Track” (2001)

Text

Martin E. Cirulis (writer).

Read in Dark Theatres (2001).

Over many years, a Delta Green agent whose life is destroyed on a mission against the Order of Crystal Essence gradually wipes out the cult and then sets her sights on Alphonse, the man she believes sent in her friends as sacrificial pawns.

The only notable good idea here is the posited effect of the Eye of Light and Darkness. The unbirth, the huge tunnel systems, the pathetic “Count Cyber” hacking scene—cf. Count Zero (1986)—and the portrayal of what I assume is Nyarlathotep’s literally-black-man avatar are all pretty dumb. Not terrible, but not worthwhile.
