Review of The Kid Brother (1927)

Moving picture, 82 minutes

Good on its own merits, but also shockingly close to the comedic mode of Disney comics and (cheap) cartoons, which continued in this style long after live action moved on toward realism. This precise tone of sincere feeling and gentle absurdity feels as though it could have been taken right out of an issue of Donald Duck, ca. 1992.
