Reviews of The Sum of All Fears (1991) and related work

The Sum of All Fears (1991Text)

Tom Clancy (writer).

Part of the Ryanverse continuity. I read this as a child, in English, and remembered only the nuclear engineering stuff, the terrorist plot and the ecumenical solution to religious divisions in Jerusalem. I have since realized how profoundly flawed all of these things are, and how self-serving the fantasy is, but they left some mark and helped set my mind for 9/11.

The Sum of All Fears (2002Moving picture, 124 minutes)

It must be hard to fail this badly on a high-budget executed nuclear terrorism flick that cuts out some of Clancy’s bullshit.
