The history of Silence Records and its founders, from their origin in the hippie music scene of 1960s Stockholm (meeting Jimi Hendrix and the Mothers of Invention) to the construction of a recording studio in rural Jämtland, releasing its first production in 1970 (Bo Hansson’s image album for The Lord of the Rings), on to the company’s success as an alternative label in the 1980s (Bob Hund’s 1990s!) through to the post-CD filesharing era, which is described as devastating.
