Review of When Whales Walked: Journeys in Deep Time (2019)

Moving picture, 106 minutes

Seen in 2020.

The basic evolutionary history of modern whales, elephants, crocodiles and birds.

Like Migrations secrètes (2018), this series reaches a gratifyingly high standard of CGI, easily outshining Mutant Planet (2010). The science outreach and the editing are also good. The narrator is disengaged and there is not much effort to illustrate the crucial concept of deep time, but the case studies are all good.
