Reviews of Home Alone (1990) and related work

Home Alone (1990Moving picture, 103 minutes)

The last 40 minutes of Straw Dogs (1971) reimagined as a children’s comedy. This long climax is all I remembered from seeing it as a child, and this seems to be common. The long build-up of unlikely coincidences, the more peaceful scenes of solitary home life and the yucky sexist and Christian messages are often forgotten. This is well expressed by Ben Zurawski’s flipbook version of the movie, which is just the traps.
