Review of 24 Panels (2018)
Alan Moore (writer).
Read in 2020.
An anthology of short professional and amateur comics inspired by the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire and sold to benefits its victims. PTSD is a recurring theme, indicated by the absence of triggers, but the most common subject is “positivity and unity”. Moore wrote only one of the comics, called “If Einstein’s Right”, a poem on eternalism as it applies to the victims of the fire and the people who caused it. These supposed perpetrators, including then-PM Theresa May, are shown as criminals under arrest, a marked break from the tone of the other material. Some other entries are non-fiction.
