Review of A Dangerous Method (2011)

Moving picture, 99 minutes

David Cronenberg (director).

Carl Jung applies, and reluctantly redevelops, the ideas of Sigmund Freud in 1900s/1910s Switzerland. Sabina Spielrein, an early subject of psychoanalysis, contributes.

Historical/biopic. All three are more fun when their ideas are compared to later work, and Freud’s early ambitions with strict neuroanatomy/neurology. Compare the almost contemporary Secrets of a Soul (1926).
