Review of “American Jail” (2018)

Moving picture, 60 minutes

Seen in 2018.

US mass incarceration.

Roger Ross Williams inserts irrelevant autobiography and presupposes the validity of his whole thesis, botching his interviews, seeking no contrary evidence and never mentioning, for instance, what Richard Pryor might have thought about the development of the prison system. For all that it’s still a pretty good overview, but you can find better.
