Review of Aquaman (2018)

Moving picture, 143 minutes

Seen in 2020.

Plastic mo-cap violence. I wasn’t expecting Swamp Thing (1982), but the environmental issues are so marginal that they might as well be absent. They’re on the level of flying-saucer lore: The Atlanteans are nominally going to punish humankind for polluting the ocean, but this pollution is treated as an abstract moral failure of other people. The human characters bear no blame for it, not even Black Manta.
