Review of Battlefield Behemoths: A History of the Tank — The World Wars (2019)

Moving picture, 88 minutes

Seen in 2023.

The first episode deals with designs immediately prior to WW1, all the way up to the Soviets’ mass production of T34s as a factor in deciding the outcome of WW2. The second episode deals with the Maus and tanks in the atomic era, focusing mainly on their psychological impact as symbols in coups and oppression, all the way up to the Russian-Ukrainan conflict that started in 2014.

There is plenty of stock footage, but the story is told in large part by knowledgeable museum staff from Germany, France and Britain.
