Review of “Darkness” (1816)

Text

Lord Byron (writer).

Read in 2022.

The end of the world.

A fictionalized Grand Guignol version of the Year Without a Summer, long before the Grand Guignol Theatre opened, and before people other than Cuvier’s buddies started thinking about catastrophic climate change. It isn’t coherent, but it’s a charming piece of Romanticism.
