Review of “Darra Dogs” (1993)

Moving picture, 10 minutes

Seen in 2018.

Animator Dennis Tupicoff has a madeleine moment when his young daughter asks him if she can get a dog. He recalls the tragic and brutal experiences he had with dogs, growing up in Darra, Australia.

Memoir. I saw this at GIFF 2018 with the animator. He said he left out the worst of his memories, and denied being morbid, despite the lingering focus on death in his work. His daughter never got a dog or any pet; a wise man.
