Review of “Defiled” (1972)
Tim Boxell (writer-artist).
Read in 2020.
Read in isolation from its anthology magazine, the first issue of the first volume of Death Rattle.
A brutal attack with sexual organs incompatible with the human form.
Too much of a first draft or synopsis to evoke any real emotion, but the basic building blocks of anthropocentric SF horror are in there. It’s conspicuous that the very end of this story about the rape of a man alludes to the normalization and trivialization of the rape of women: “I hope... you’re in the... mood tonight... dear I’m... horny as a.. hoot howl”.
