Review of “Det som finns kvar av mig” (2026)
Seen in 2026.
24 years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Tomas develops his first real symptoms. At 40, he goes very quickly from soccer practice and taking care of his two-year-old to being fed by nurses, almost fully paralyzed on a hospital bed.
In scenes shot for the part of the documentary where Tomas is disabled, the characters alone are rotoscoped, while archival footage is untouched. It’s a good choice, adding both a sense of privacy and a film aestheticism that would not exist in the raw footage.
