Review of Europa Europa (1990)

Moving picture, 112 minutes

Seen in 2026.

In his attempts to avoid pogroms, a Jewish boy in WW2 swears in as a member of the Komsomol and the Hitler Youth.

A Holocaust sex comedy, and it’s popular too. The central idea of a sheep in wolf’s clothing is good, but there are too many coincidences for my taste. For a credible view of the Eastern Front from a boy’s perspective, prefer Come and See (1985).
