Review of Hail Satan? (2019)

Moving picture, 95 minutes

Seen in 2023.

The ironic Satanic Temple, from a 2013 rally to “support” Florida Governor Rick Scott, to a 2018 event outside the Arkansas State Capitol to display a statue of Baphomet, protesting exclusively Christian iconography at the Capitol where church and state are supposed to be kept separate.

Good work putting the trolling in context, from Billy Graham and the wave of Christian infiltration in the 1950s—including the detail that the Arkansas Capitol monument was donated by Paramount to promote The Ten Commandments—to LaVey, the Satanic Panic, and the Catholic Church’s large-scale sexual abuse of children.
