Review of “I’m Going to Meet My Brother” (1963)
Vladislav Krapivin (writer).
Read in 2020.
Read in The Molecular Café (1968).
A twelve-year old is shocked by the unexpected return of the Magellan, an interstellar FTL explorer with a crew of five, hundreds of years after it was expected back and declared lost.
The translation could have used just a little more work, but the curious style shines through it. I get a faint vibe of Takahata Isao, something very sensitive to the world of the child’s senses and imagination.
