Review of “It Sifts From Leaden Sieves” (1862)
Emily Dickinson (writer).
Read in 2021.
I read the five-stanza version first, then a three-stanza version. It’s just a riddle where Dickinson struggles to avoid saying what she means, but by this point, she has gotten good enough as a poet that the language itself is pleasant.
