Review of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato (2019)
Seen in 2019.
A concerted attack, from an armoured train, by half-zombie heroes, on an overrun castle threatening to turn into a kaijū.
Though often described as an imitation of Attack on Titan (2013), this feels more like Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (2012), particularly in how it sexualizes a schlocky apocalypse. The reasonable romantic pairings are better than the usual singles though. The worldbuilding is not terrible but the action sequences are too poorly planned and animated to hold attention.
