Review of Life (2009)

Moving picture, 8 hours

Seen in 2018.

I saw the Swedish-language SVT version.

Ten episodes on the "Challenges of Life", "Reptiles and Amphibians", "Mammals", "Fish", "Birds", "Insects", "Hunters and Hunted", "Creatures of the Deep", "Plants" and "Primates".

It is a natural development from Planet Earth (2006), but it’s marginally more conservative. People are scarce, the innovations are mainly technical, and these have been surpassed. The aquatic sequences, for example, are naturally inferior to Blue Planet II (2017), but they include a good example of giant cuttlefish cuckoldry. The episode on plants looks great though; it got me thinking about SF worldbuilding.
