Review of Loving Couples (1964)

Moving picture, 118 minutes

Seen in 2022.

Three different women in a Swedish maternity hospital at the start of WW1 look back upon their young lives.

A mess of characters and stories, as a result of compressing seven novels into one feature-length film. There are a few strong scenes of forward-looking feminism, especially the rehearsal for the gay wedding, but the density of the adaptation is too tall a hurdle.
