Review of “New York Lightboard Record” (1961)

Moving picture, 9 minutes

Norman McLaren (director).

An animated advertisement by McLaren is shown on a large Times Square lightboard (low-resolution binary black-and-white digital animation) and we see some audience reactions to it, including a fascinated boy and McLaren himself.

Alas, I haven’t seen the animation in full, but the presence of the audience is nice.
