The direct feminist point is surprisingly soft. Poverty and religion, two of the major causes of the sex discrimination here, are appropriately foregrounded.

Equally depressing. Najibeh’s fate in particular is worth keeping in mind when you see a confident, sassy stereotype in a Hollywood comedy; they are not very helpful traits.
