No Burqas Behind Bars (2012
)
Seen in 2013.
The direct feminist point is surprisingly soft. Poverty and religion, two of the major causes of the sex discrimination here, are appropriately foregrounded.
‣ Prison Sisters (2016
)
Seen in 2018.
Sara and Najibeh’s lives upon release from prison.
Equally depressing. Najibeh’s fate in particular is worth keeping in mind when you see a confident, sassy stereotype in a Hollywood comedy; they are not very helpful traits.
