Review of “Polaris” (1920)
H. P. Lovecraft (writer).
The 1918 seed of a prehistoric The Night Land (1912), where the narrator is only drawn in far enough to lose faith in the reality of his present incarnation. A mix of Lovecraft’s own life with Poe’s “Dream-Land” (1844), “Polaris” started Lovecraft’s fabulist dream cycle.
