Review of Rubble Kings (2010)

Moving picture, 71 minutes

Seen in 2017.

Gangs in New York, particularly the Bronx in the 1960s and ’70s, as remembered by a few surviving luminaries.

Talking heads and archival footage. Self-described as the true story that inspired The Warriors (1979). Aestheticized and shallow oral history. Only one woman made the final cut while nothing is heard from parents, authorities, bystanders etc. There is no attempt to present accurate statistics on gang-related crime by era, or even keep track of time.
