Review of Runaway Train (1985)

Moving picture, 111 minutes

Seen in 2022.

An existential action movie that returns to the early film genre of trains, e.g. “Fast Mail, Northern Pacific Railroad” (1897). The plot is too heavy with coincidences and the prison break is too simple, but there is ample kitsch value, the sustained set-piece is fun, and there is one great Jon Voight monologue about strength of character as a convict.
